From My Heart, to Yours

I love you, child;
I treasure your smile;
I bask in its glow.
You trained my ears early
To thrill at your laughter -
I love you more than you know.

But oh, your sorrows,
Your worries and fears;
I'm stabbed with the burning
And salt of your tears.
When your heart is broken,
So mine breaks in two;
And life mows us both down
When it runs over you.

God is still here
He cares for you so;
Thus He gives the rain.
It hurts while it's pouring
But it pours down with purpose -
And He feels every drop of the pain.

And oh, these sorrows,
These worries and fears;
He knows them - He holds them;
He collects all your tears.
And there is no heartache
That conquers what He
Has purposed to bring forth
In the days you can't see.

Take heart, my child;
The night doesn't last;
Dawn soon will glow!
My ears strain in waiting
To hear your sweet laughter.
God's faithful. You'll look back and know.
